چکیده

In this paper we develop a novel methodology to incorporate managerial judgment or intuition into a logit model. The major contribution and focus of this research is on the way prior information is incorporated in our model. By extending the model introduced by Koop and Poirier (1993) we are able incorporate information about exogenous variables as priors in our model. The major advantage of this approach is that it facilitates the way prior information is included in a logit model. A manger can think in terms of changes in exogenous variables rather than unobservable parameters, as in a standard bayesian approach. We provide two empirical illustrations of our model; (i) showing the impact of a change in marketing strategy by including informative prior through ‘managers’ subjective judgments, (ii) forecast sales when limited information is available. Results indicate that incorporating subjective prior information may lead to a significant improvement of parameter estimates and sales forecasts.

Investigating the Risk of Paying Loans to Public and Private Companies Using the Logit Model and Comparing it with Altman Z (Case Study: A Private Bank in Iran)

The design of a credit risk measurement model in the monetary and banking system will play an important role in increasing the profitability of banking resources. This article attempts to use two models of Logit and Z Altman to determine and predict the credit risk of facilities provided to legal entities at a private bank in Iran. The variables studied in this research include qualitative vari...

Requirements Engineering Meets Trust Management: Model, Methodology, and Reasoning

The last years have seen a number of proposals to incorporate Security Engineering into mainstream Software Requirements Engineering. However, capturing trust and security requirements at an organizational level (as opposed to a design level) is still an open problem. This paper presents a formal framework for modeling and analyzing security and trust requirements. It extends the Tropos methodo...

A Study of Consumer Switching Behavior

This paper describes an empirical study of the dynamics of consumer switching behavior across major Internet portal Websites. The study methodology is based on a multinomial Logit-Markov model framework that characterizes consumer switching-behavior. We propose a tractable Maximum Likelihood procedure to estimate the switching model’s parameters on the basis of online panel data. This empirical...

Calculating the exact compensating variation in logit and nested-logit models with income effects: theory, intuition, implementation, and application ?

An exact formula for the expected compensating variation is derived for logit and nested-logit models with income effects. Intuition, examples, and an application are provided. The appendix contains a formal proof. The formula is applied to estimate the E[cv]s salmon anglers in Maine would associate with changes in catch rates at Maine and Canadian Rivers.
